Since this is officially my first blog, I need to give a big virtual “shout-out” to a few key players who either directly or indirectly empowered me to believe my knowledge and passion for Web 2.0 / Social Media might actually be valuable enough to the world that I should share it. In no particular order: Jose Palomino, Scott Davies, Steven Andriole, Jeff Goldenson, Dan Nye, Stouffer Egan, Russ Rosa, Blake Edmonds, Carla Bobke, Stephen Bates, Michael Brairton, and of course my wonderful wife, Nancy Egan.
There is a lot more behind this, a lot of moving parts, information, data, and stories that should be told, but there comes a time when you just need to get it out there…

Unveiling: The FreesourceAgent
So, what is the FreesourceAgent and what is freesourcing?
Freesourcing is the action and/or process of leveraging free, www-based resources typically associated with Web 2.0 technologies and SaaS (Software as a Service) delivery models.
I came up with the term one evening about 3 weeks ago as I was cleaning chicken & apple puree out of my baby daughter’s ear… for some reason I was thinking about the word “Freemium” (WSJ Article) and a mental trigger occurred in my thought process where I started to reflect on how trendy “BLANK”-sourcing has become, i.e. Outsourcing, Insourcing, Crowdsourcing, Homesourcing, etc. and…
WHAM! Brain activity collision in my head… Output: Freesourcing.
The FreesourceAgent is dedicated to the art and science of freesourcing. In my weekly series of blog posts, we will explore how corporations and individual professionals can freesource to efficiently and effectively deliver on nearly any given business objective (i.e. Business Development through Social Influence Marketing or Customer Relationship Management through Micro-blogging). From LinkedIn, to SecondLife, to SugarCRM, and everything in between (including things that have yet to be imagined), we will cover them all.
In a sense, our consulting services and training workshops are to Web 2.0, what Red Hat is to Linux.
The FreesourceAgent is part of the arsenal of business differentiation strategies, tools, and workshops available through Value Prop Interactive. To learn more about how we can help you create and sharpen your social strategy please email me: FreesourceAgent@valueprop.com
Until next time, this is your FreesourceAgent, logging out.
*DISCLAIMER: Let this be digital record that I am responsible for coining/creating the word “freesource”, its definition and how it is used (including sub-deviations of the word). I encourage you to use it and if you want to challenge my declaration, I don’t really care. Also, FYI: I know there is a company in Sweden that is using freesourcing.com as the name of their company but it has nothing to do with what I am talking about.

…I think your staking out clear consulting terrain here. I have surface level connections to facebook, linkedIn. Even with a fleeting engagement, they’re useful.
That said, they’re not “working” for me. And I don’t know how to “work” them. I’m no power user. Not sure exactly where I’d even start to navigate these services to become one.
…wouldn’t even begin to know how to optimize social media tools to improve the web consulting I do….
Lay it out Nathan. I need to put these freesources to work for me
Ditto what Jeff Goldenson said.
It seems an understatement to say there is tremendous opportunity here. Freesourceing is at the same time a tool for enabling and harnessing the acceleration of change. Velocity 1 LLC is only beginning to see the opportunites this presents for our enterprise goals.
